Summer greeting 2023

Now the office door is closed and it’s time to start summer vacation, even though I notice that it is little bit hard to let go of work that I am passionate about. One of my tradition to let go of work has been to summarize for myself, what I have done, and realise that maybe it’s time for a summer break.:)

Now the office door has been closed and it’s time to start my summer vacation, even though I notice that it is little bit hard to let go of work that I am passionate about. One of my tradition to let go of work has been to summarize to myself, what I have done, and realise that maybe it’s time for a summer break.:)

I am extremely grateful that during the past year. I have worked with several old as well as new client organisations within individual executive and leadership coaching, executive and expert team coaching and leadership development programs. The client organisations include eg: Andritz, Parker Hannifin, Pohjolan Voima, Kone, Finnish Institute of Health and Welfare (THL), VTT, Finnish Institute of Occupational Health (TSL), Finnish Meteorological Institute, Crowd Collective, Virta and HAMK. I have also continued my role at Ashridge Executive Education as an Adjunct Faculty, and collaboration with Aalto Executive Education and University of Helsinki University Centre for Continuing Education HY+. It’s been also great to do some coaching supervision supporting other coaches to grow. Thank you all the clients and collaboration partners! I feel very privileged to do the work that feels very meaningful and is supporting my purpose of helping people, leaders and teams unleash more of their true potential.

Due to high workload my PhD studies in psychology at the University of Jyväskylä have not proceeded as fast as I planned. I have struggled with balancing my time with work and research and I realise that in order to proceed, it is important to keep my commitment to stick with the days I have reserved for research instead of easily selling the days to the clients. I have also decided not to enroll to any other development programs for a while, which has been a problem for me earlier.:) In the spring, I finalised my studies at the Oxford Brookes University and received Professional Certificate of Advanced Study in Coaching Supervision and I did a half year training course in Cognitive Hypnotherapy, which gave me a new addition to my coaching toolbox. I was accredited by EMCC as a Senior Practitioner and I am now renewing my Master coach Certification at ICF International Coaching Association. At ICF I have continued my last year as a volunteer Co-Lead at the global Coaching Science Community of Practice organizing webinars for ICF member coaches four times a year.

Well, now it is time to the summer break from client work until mid-August. For me, it will be a combination of going with the flow with unplanned schedule, spending time with family and friends, reading, beach volleyball practices and few tournaments eg. Jyrki Nurminen Challenger Tour and European Masters Tournament in 45-years old in Tampere, Finland. In the end of July, I will combine leisure and work when I will be one of the speakers at the International Enneagram Association conference in San Francisco. In my presentation I will explore how the enneagram can be used in increasing psychological safety, uniting people, valuing diversity, and unlocking more potential of people and teams in organizations, that are strengthening self-management. I will talk about how this transition requires vertical development from everyone, but especially from leaders. The enneagram offers a valuable map for understanding how different enneagram styles experience this transition into self-management especially in leadership positions, what comes easy and what might be challenging, and how each style needs different path for development.

In August, I will have my retreat to advance my PhD research on growth as a leader in self-managing organisation. I will continue writing my first article which is based on the empirical data on interviews of leaders in self-managing organisations. For the second stage of my research, I am looking for leaders in self-managing organisations who would like to get supporting growing as a leader and human being via coaching. In my own growth as a human being, it has been very important to learn (and I am still learning) to enjoy present moment and accepting as it is, instead of thinking what is missing or lacking and planning for the future. Life is happening now. Do what you love, brings you joy and gives you sense of purpose. Seize the day and enjoy every moment! That is my intention for this vacation as well.

After the vacation, it is time to continue focusing on making my tiny little contribution in making this world a better place via my work with helping especially leaders and leadership teams to grow to unleash more of their true potential in themselves and in their organisations for a better world. We need more mature leaders who care what is going on this world and who want to contribute in changing it for the better. I will tell you more about what’s to come in the fall.

Have a great vacation and summer if you are having one. (Some of my collaboration partners have winter this time of the year.) Looking forward to inspiring collaboration and meetings in the fall!

#purpose #unleashingtruepotential

Warmly,

Sari
