Leadership Team Development and Team Coaching

Does this sound familiar? Your leadership team has enormous knowledge, experience, and intelligence, yet a shared direction still keeps fragmenting into silos.

There might be enough trust for smooth day-to-day collaboration, but not enough to put the hardest issues on the table and work through them together. Only a fraction of the team’s real potential gets used. High-performing teams rarely happen on their own. Building one takes deliberate work.

How a leadership team operates sets the foundation for the organization’s entire culture. An organization doesn’t grow beyond the awareness of its leaders. That’s why it matters that the leadership team first strengthens, among themselves, the kind of leadership they want to see spread through the rest of the organization, whether the goal is clearer, more effective collaboration, or a step toward more collective leadership.

Most leadership team development treats the team as either a business-performance question (strategy, roles, processes) or a relational one (trust, interaction). True Potential’s approach brings both together, the goal is a strong foundation for both results and wellbeing, not one at the expense of the other.

An external coach supports and challenges the team to bring out its full potential. The work begins with mapping the current state, and the process is shaped together with the client toward a shared goal. Common themes in leadership team development work typically include:

  • Clarifying the leadership culture the team wants to build
  • Sharpening shared purpose, goals, and metrics in line with strategy
  • Clarifying roles, ways of working, and decision-making
  • Strengthening trust and psychological safety
  • Developing team dynamics, learning, and collaboration
  • Leading the organization, its networks, and stakeholders

We draw flexibly on a range of team development frameworks and methods as needed including team training, team coaching, and facilitation, along with tools such as leadership team surveys and self-awareness and diversity tools with individual and team profiles, in particular the iEQ9 profile (based on Enneagram theory) or the Workplace Big Five. We often also recommend combining individual coaching for team members alongside the process.

I have had the opportunity to collaborate closely with Sari Vuohtoniemi both at the leadership team level and through individual coaching, and I can strongly recommend her as a leadership and leadership team coach. At the team level, Sari played a key role in strengthening how we work together in our global leadership team. She helped us build trust, increase openness, and create more direct and constructive interactions.

The impact was tangible: dialogue improved, barriers came down, and the team operates today with greater effectiveness. What differentiates Sari is her ability to combine insight with pragmatism; she does not stop at awareness but ensures real behavioral change and measurable impact. Our collaboration continues, and I see her as a trusted partner in strengthening leadership performance.”
